Local YMCA hires Paso grad as new basketball coordinator
– North County YMCA has announced Brandon Hanson as their new Basketball Coordinator for this fall season. Hanson graduated from Paso Robles high school in 2002 where he played two years of varsity basketball under Coach Scott Larson. After high school, he moved to the state of Kentucky and enrolled in college and studied Early Childhood Development and Elementary Education. With teaching always a focus and basketball always a love, in 2006 he started coaching at the youth level through the Kentucky YMCA, eventually becoming an assistant coach at the middle school and high school levels. During his time in Kentucky he forged many friendships with NBA players. Through these friendships Hanson started to host his own basketball camps and clinics for kids of all ages where he quickly established himself as a quality trainer and teacher.
“I’m very excited to announce that Brandon Hanson is our new Basketball Coordinator for the YMCA Youth Sports Program,” said Jeri Mullin, North County Community Program Director. “Under his stewardship, I am looking forward to seeing this program grow in a positive way. His enthusiasm and vast experience working with youth will make this a great year.”

In 2013 Hanson moved back to California and began setting roots on the Central Coast. He quickly established CC Elite Basketball, a sport-based company that specializes in skills training, weight training, basketball camps, and AAU travel teams. He most recently was the assistant coach for the Flamson Cougars in 2015.
About the YMCA Youth Basketball Program
Participants will learn the fundamentals of basketball while engaging in a positive recreational experience. Practice will take place one day a week after school, with one game every Friday evening or Saturday. Teams will be formed and schedules will be made after registration has ended. The YMCA is also looking for volunteer Coaches and team sponsors. If you are interested call the North County YMCA at (805) 239=3047.
Registration and cost
Early bird is $90 + $15 registration fee October 3rd – October 21, and $115 + $15 registration fee Oct. 22 – Nov. 4. Basketball uniforms are included. Registration forms can be picked up at the Centennial Park office located at 600 Nickerson Drive or downloaded online at www.sloymca.org.
