Locals celebrate fall harvest at Golden Oak Honey and Pumpkin Festival
Giant pumpkins, local honey, and live bees drew large crowds
– Hundreds of locals and visitors enjoyed Main Street’s Golden Oak Honey and Pumpkin Festival Saturday at the Downtown City Park in Paso Robles. Giant pumpkins, live bees, local honey and pie eating contests entertained kids and adults alike.
Both adults and children competed in Pumpkin Pie Eating Contests. The rules stipulated that contestants had to keep their hands behind their backs while they consumed pieces of pumpkin pie as quickly as possible.

Logan Scuton won the kids’ competition. He was the only competitor to eat two whole pieces in the 60 second time limit. Among the adults, Beau Gallagher consumed the most pumpkin pie in one minute. For their efforts, each winner received a free pumpkin pie.
Templeton 4-H members sold honey and showed interested members of the public a transparent bee hive. The queen was marked with blue paint, so people could watch her wiggle behind the glass.
Randy Pharr of Templeton brought huge pumpkins to the festival. Many stopped to admire his giant pumpkins.
The Paso Robles Downtown Main Street Association puts on the annual event with the help of many volunteers. Norma Moye and Dale Gustin said the event was a great success.
