Locals meet to discuss potential changes to Creston Road
About sixty people attended a workshop Monday afternoon and evening at Daniel Lewis Middle School to discuss potential changes to Creston Road.
Consulting firm W-Trans of Oakland facilitated the workshop. Steve Weinberger of W-Trans led attendees on a walking tour of Creston Road to point out issues and describe potential improvements.
Back in the Lewis Middle School auditorium, W-Trans presented a power-point talk on possible solutions to congestion and safety issues. Paso Robles Public Works Director Dick McKinley told attendees part of Creston Road will be repaved this summer because the roadway has deteriorated to a degree that creates a safety hazard.
Residents raised questions about the potential solutions, including grants, bicycle riding by school kids and the safety of Creston Road. Former Supervisor and Paso Robles City Councilman Harry Ovitt spoke about concerns residents have shared with him about the project. Although Ovitt now lives in San Miguel, he grew up on Creston Road in the 50’s and 60’s.
Wednesday, Creston Road discussion continued with a Pop-Up Protected Bike Lane Demonstration between 7:30-10 a.m. on Creston Road between Nickerson Drive and Lewis Middle School. There will also be an Open Studio discussion to shared ideas about designs in progress.
On Thursday evening from 6-8 pm, there will be a Presentation of Preliminary Designs at Lewis Middle School.
