All Marks Broken By Sunday Storm
No Damage to Crops Reported As Up to An Inch Falls in District for First Time in History of Keeping Weather Charts; All Forest Fires Out
Not Since 1926 has rain to any amount beyond a trace been seen in Paso Robles and Sunday night’s storm set a record that has never been tapped in the history of rainfall in t his section of California. These records go back to 1770.
The downpour here ranged from .59 inches at Sherwood Field to one inch recorded at Creston.
No damage was reported to the crops of grain, the ranchers only suffering a slight delay in getting onto their land for harvest of grain which was soaked by the steady downpour.
The storm started early Sunday evening and continued practically all night. At times it was accompanied by lightning and thunder, giving the impression of a back-east thunderstorm.
The storm appeared to be generally over southern California.
The rain was most opportune, coming on top of the recent forest and brush fires which ravaged the county. They are all reported fully extinguished.
