‘In Love with the West’ show at Studios on the Park

–Studios on the Park opened a new show Saturday night called “In Love with the West.” Nearly a dozen western artists brought art work from across the country.

Jeff Segler brought four oil paintings from Los Alamos, New Mexico including a large portrait of a locomotive in a roundhouse, a cowboy roping a steer and two portraits of Native Americans. Segler studied art at University of Alabama, where he grew up, but lost his southern accent in Santa Fe, where he had a studio for 33 years.

The Julie Beaver Trio entertained guests.

Segler was recently named National Artist of the Boy Scouts of America. In the BSA’s history, he is only the third National Artist. For the first sixty years, Norman Rockwell was the Boy Scout National Artist. Joe Csatari held the position for the last forty years.

The Julie Beaver Trio entertained with country music at the opening of the Western Art Show.

The show at Studios on the Park will run until Feb. 26.
