Luncheon to be held in honor of Susan and Tom Davies

–The Foundation for the Performing Arts Center’s third annual Swanson Fund Luncheon will be held in honor of Susan and Tom Davies, an inspiring couple who have spent over 34 years teaching and composing music on the Central Coast. The third annual Swanson Fund Luncheon will be held on Sun Feb  25th at the Performing Arts Center. The event is equal parts luncheon and variety show, as Susan and Tom Davies’ peers, students and colleagues take turns paying tribute through music, monologue, and story.

“Susan and Tom have made an indelible impression on the performing arts in our community,” said the Foundation’s Executive Director, Leann Standish. “They have devoted their lives to teaching and inspiring music in others. We are thrilled to share with them the impact of their tireless work.”

The Luncheon kicks off the third season of the Clifton Swanson PAC Community Access Fund, an initiative that awards grants to local non-profit arts groups to help support the cost of performing on-stage at the Performing Arts Center.

For the 2016-17 season, $23,000 in grant money was awarded to seven different local arts groups. Three have already performed on stage at the Performing Arts Center, including Civic Ballet, OperaSLO, and San Luis Obispo Master Chorale, where Tom and Susan Davies currently serve as conductor and accompanist, respectively. The Swanson Fund Luncheon will mark the start of the grant application cycle for the third season of the Clifton Swanson PAC Community Access Fund. Applications can be found on the foundation’s website. The deadline for submission is April 2 at 5 p.m.

Tickets are $75 for an individual and $600 for a table and can be purchased online. This year’s Swanson Fund Luncheon is generously underwritten by Lyn Baker.

Established in 1986, the foundation provides and promotes an extraordinary and accessible center for the performing arts that elevates the arts in our community, in collaboration with our partners, California Polytechnic State University and the City of San Luis Obispo. Visit the foundation’s website for more information on the foundation and its mission.
