Man arrested for DUI, stealing, crashing vehicle

–On Sunday 2:59 p.m. an officer with the San Luis Obispo Police Department discovered a vehicle parked on the sidewalk near the intersection of Walnut and Morro. As the officer stopped and exited the patrol vehicle a subject walked up and claimed to be the owner of the vehicle. He told the officer that someone was trying to steal his car and that the suspect was still in the vehicle.

Additional officers responded to the scene and identified the suspect as 22-year-old San Luis Obispo resident Jager Wise. They discovered that Wise attempted to steal the vehicle but crashed during the process. Wise gained entry into the vehicle because it was unlocked and he was able to get it into drive. When he released the emergency brake, the vehicle rolled forward colliding with a pole. The vehicle then continued to roll and collided with another vehicle. Wise was arrested for DUI, stolen vehicle, and a warrant.
