Man arrested for felony DUI after accident

A man was arrested for felony DUI, driving under the influence, after a vehicle accident on Nacimiento Lake Drive late Tuesday afternoon.
Manfred Hans Schmidt, 75, of Paso Robles was arrested at 5 p.m. on Nacimiento Lake Drive just south of Gateway Drive.
Schmidt was driving a Dodge on Nacimiento Lake Drive when he was involved in a broadside collision with a Honda driven by Marlene Brita Richards, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Richards sustained severe injuries and was transported to Sierra Vista Hospital.Schmidt sustained minor injuries, but the refused medical treatment, according to CHP.
Schmidt was subsequently arrested for 23153(a) VC (Felony DUI causing injury to another person), and 23153(b) VC (Felony DUI causing injury to another person with a BAC of .08% or higher). He was transported and booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail.
Templeton CHP Office is continuing its investigation into the accident.
