Alleged child molester arrested before boarding international flight at LAX

Daniel Ramirez Gutierrez was arrested, brought back to SLO County for trial
– On Monday, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office received information that an 11-year-old female allegedly had been molested by her stepfather, Daniel Ramirez-Gutierrez of San Luis Obispo County.
Sheriff’s detectives began an in-depth investigation into the allegations. The 11-year-old victim disclosed that Ramirez-Gutierrez had been molesting her since the age of five, authorities say.
On Tuesday, the victim’s mother also disclosed that she too was a victim of Ramirez-Gutierrez, authorities say. She told detectives that for the past three years, Ramirez-Gutierrez had been forcing her to have sexual intercourse and forcing her to orally copulate him on a daily basis, authorities say. The mother notified the sheriff’s office that Ramirez-Gutierrez had packed up all his belonging and left the residence after becoming suspicious of an investigation into the allegations.
On Wednesday, detectives with assistance from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) learned that Ramirez-Gutierrez was scheduled to depart that day to South America on a one-way flight from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). With swift coordination between the Sheriff’s Office and HSI, Sheriff’s Detectives and Special Agents were able to locate and arrest Ramirez-Gutierrez at LAX on a multiple count felony no-bail arrest warrant.
On Thursday, Ramirez-Gutierrez was booked in San Luis Obispo County Jail on multiple charges including lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 by force, continuous sexual abuse of a child, sexual intercourse or sodomy with a victim under 10-years-old, rape by force/fear, and rape by threat of retaliation.
“I am proud of the great work by our detectives which took a dangerous and predatory criminal off the streets,” said Sheriff Ian Parkinson. “I am grateful for the close cooperation we had with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations to bring this case to a successful conclusion.”
“Homeland Security Investigations works daily with our state and local law enforcement partners to ensure the safety and security of our communities,” said Acting HSI Los Angeles Special Agent in Charge Eddy Wang. “This arrest is another example of how the dedicated HSI Los Angeles special agents work with the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office to prevent a suspected child predator from fleeing the United States to avoid justice.”
