Jordan A. Costa

Jordan A. Costa.

–At about 1:40 p.m. yesterday, the Grover Beach Police Department received a call from staff at the Fairgrove Elementary School reporting an adult male trespasser on school property. The man, later identified as Jordan A. Costa, 19, of Grover Beach, was seen jumping over a school yard perimeter fence and walking onto the rear field of the campus. School staff responded quickly by placing the campus on lock down and confronting the man on the field. The man fled the area, jumping back over the fence and into a nearby neighborhood.

GBPD officers with the assistance of San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a search of the neighborhood and were able to locate the man. He was taken into custody without incident. Our preliminary investigation has revealed the man did not intend to harm anyone at the campus and was only causing interference with school operations by trespassing onto the school grounds. The school lock down lasted about an hour. Costa was arrested for trespassing and probation violation and booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail.
