Man arrested in San Luis Obispo for attempting to kidnap 8-year-old girl
–On March 8, at approximately 3:45 p.m., the San Luis Obispo Police Department received a 911 call regarding an attempted kidnap. Officers responded to the area of Meadow Park where it was reported a male suspect grabbed an eight-year-old girl.
The investigation revealed evidence that David Castellon attempted to grab an 8-year-old girl by the arm while she was walking home from the area of Meadow Park. When Castellon grabbed the 8-year-old’s arm in what the child described as a “hard grip”, she was able to pull away and run safely home to her parents who called the police.
When officers arrived in the area they were provided with a detailed description of the Castellon. A short time later the suspect was spotted by one of the SLOPD officers who was searching the area. When the police attempted to contact Castellon, he ran. After a short foot pursuit, the suspect was apprehended. Investigators came in and were able to interview Castellon. The investigators obtained statements linking Castellon to the alleged crime. Castellon was later booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail. His bail was set at $50,000.
