Man stabbed in Salinas Riverbed Thursday night
Victim transported to area hospital, suspect unknown
– On Thursday evening at about 10:18 p.m., the Paso Robles Police Department received a call from an employee at Walmart, 180 Niblick Rd, who reported he located a victim of an apparent stabbing laying in the parking lot, according to Paso Robles Police Commander Tod Rehner.
When officers arrived, they located victim Christopher Thatcher, 32, of Paso Robles, laying in the parking lot suffering from multiple stab wounds and a possible punctured lung.
It was determined that Thatcher had been stabbed in the back and torso at least seven times, and once in the head. He was taken by ambulance to Sierra Vista Hospital for emergency care.
Thatcher was unable to provide any information as to who assaulted him, why the assault occurred, or where it occurred. Officers were able to track a blood trail toward the Salinas Riverbed area, but were unable to determine specifically where the assault occurred.
Thatcher reported he is homeless and shelters within the Salinas Riverbed area. The Paso Robles Detective Bureau is continuing the investigation.
