Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration to be hosted at Flamson
–The City of Paso Robles will host an annual celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday is now entering its 30th year, having first been recognized as a national holiday in 1986. This event commemorates the birthday of a great American leader, and his lifelong journey for equality, freedom and peace.
The community is invited to attend the free event.
The celebration will be held at the Flamson Middle School auditorium, located at 2405 Spring Street, Paso Robles. This event will involve community leaders who will motivate and speak on the theme, “Together, We Can Make a Difference.” Local high school students will participate in an essay contest with awards.
Elementary schools will be involved with an art contest and the winning entry will be published on the front cover of the event program.
Program highlights include:
- Essay Contest winner will be a featured speaker
- Young Women’s song “Love One Another” in sign language
- God Squad Dance Crew
- The MLK Community Choir
