School district sends notice discussing mask policy for adults in youth settings

– The Paso Robles Joint Unified School District released an announcement in response to community visitors and inquiries regarding mask-wearing on school campuses. The announcement is as follows:

As you are aware our Board of Education passed a Resolution to have “Mask Choice” for our students, beginning February 23, 2022. This resolution does not apply to adults working or visiting in youth settings (our schools), therefore masks are still required for ADULTS indoors at our school sites until March 14, 2022, per the State of California.

On 2/28/22, Governor Newsom signed Executive Order N-5-22 that updates the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (CalOSHA) COVID-19 Emergency Temporary Standards (ETS) and aligns it with the recently updated California Department of Public Health (CDPH) guidance regarding indoor mask-wearing.

The Governor also lifted the universal mask requirement for school and childcare settings effective March 11, 2022. After March 11, indoor mask-wearing will no longer be required but continues to be strongly recommended by CDPH. The Governor’s Executive Order updates CalOSHA employer COVID-19 requirements in non-school settings for both vaccinated and unvaccinated employees.

What this means for PRJUSD Employees:

· Mask-wearing is required from now until after March 11 at school sites and childcare centers.
· Mask-wearing is now strongly recommended for all employees in non-school settings regardless of vaccination status.
· PRJUSD Employees who undergo weekly COVID-19 testing per CalOSHArequirements will continue to do so until directed otherwise.
· PRJUSD Employees are strongly recommended to wear facemasks when closely interacting indoors with anyone wearing a facemask and/or the general public.

We look forward to another step towards normalcy and appreciate your support and understanding in this matter.
