Meeting on proposed mental health hospital Tuesday

A new behavioral health, drug treatment, and memory care hospital is being proposed to be built in Templeton on Las Tablas Road, near Twin Cities Hospital and community members are invited to a forum to hear more about it. A “meet and greet” is scheduled with Mark Schneider of VizionHealth on Tuesday, Nov. 11 from 5-7 p.m. in the Templeton Community Center, 601 S. Main St., Templeton.

The forum is an opportunity to meet both the developer and the architect of the proposed facility. The project is described as a facility that would bring in patients from around the central coast with about 90 beds and a staff of up to 200. The patients would be short-term, 5–10 days, in the locked facility.

The Templeton Chamber of Commerce sent a notice of the meeting to its members saying,” While this facility would bring career level jobs to Templeton, fill a need for this medical service in our county, and be appropriately located in the medical zone of our town, it also poses some potential issues, including need for fire and police response, increased traffic on Las Tablas, neighborhood security and the resources to serve the visitors and families of these patients in their expected 5-10 day stays.”
