Mid-State Fair daily schedule for Thursday, July 25

Old Dominion with Joe Diffie performs tonight

Acclaimed country band Old Dominion is performing with Joe Diffie at the Chumash Grandstand Arena at 7:30 p.m. Ticket for the show are $36, $46, $66, and $81 and are available online or by calling 1-800-909-FAIR (3247), and  at the California Mid-State Fair box office located at 2198 Riverside Avenue in Paso Robles.

This reigning CMA and ACM “Vocal Group of the Year” they recently launched their “Make It Sweet Tour” with sold-out back to back weekends. In the midst of the tour, Old Dominion shared a new track entitled “One Man Band.”  The ballad landed on The Boot’s “8 More Songs You Need to Hear” list within just a week and leaped past 1 million on Spotify.

By the end of 2018, Old Dominion performed 136 shows and crossed 1.5 million fan impressions within 365 days. Those gigs encompassed their own arena tour, sold-out European and Canadians runs, dozens of festivals, and opening for Kenny Chesney on his summer stadium and arena tour. They also took home the award for “Vocal Group of the Year” at the 52nd Annual CMA Awards and at the 53rd Annual ACM Awards. Additionally, the band received a nomination for “Country Duo/Group Artist” at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards.

Grammy award winner Joe Diffie is a member of the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame and has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry for 25 years. Few artists celebrate life’s challenges and triumphs with the eloquence that Joe Diffie does. Songs of untarnished love as in his hit “John Deere Green,” or unrealized dreams in “Ships That Don’t Come In” paint portraits of real life with all its joy and angst. The title track of his new album, “I got This” is an up-tempo number proclaiming what every man wants to say and every woman wants to hear: “Ain’t no load gonna get too heavy/Ain’t no bolt on this old Chevy I can’t twist/I can run the blade on a D8 ‘dozer//With the same hand I can pull you closer/Girl, if all you need’s a long, slow kiss, I got this.”
