‘Mini Movers’ yoga sessions for toddlers start this week
Class will introduce playful yoga postures, relaxation techniques, and breathing exercises for both children and adults
– Vanessa Salas Orr, owner of Yaya Yoga CA and a yoga, mindfulness, and dance instructor, will offer a new five-session Mini Movers Yoga, Music, and Movement class for children aged seven to 23 months. The sessions will begin on Nov. 5 in the Acorn Room at Centennial Park, located at 600 Nickerson Drive in Paso Robles. The class is designed for crawlers and toddlers along with their parents or caregivers to engage in activities that aim to build strong connections among family and caregivers.
The class will introduce playful yoga postures, relaxation techniques, and breathing exercises for both children and adults. The sessions will also incorporate music, picture books, and age-appropriate props to support language development, motor skills, and play. The activities will balance active and passive postures.
“My goal is to teach parents and caregivers how to play with their growing toddler in meaningful ways while incorporating learning,” Orr said. “We’ll practice skills for kids that can enhance their everyday life. Teaching children how to engage in their body and breath at a young age can help them with their growing stressors. Ultimately, it’s a class to learn, play, and make friends.”
Orr, who is also a children’s book author, has published titles including Calm McYogi’s Farm and Calm McYogi Visits the Zoo.
The Mini Movers class is offered for a $60 registration fee, covering all five sessions, held on Tuesdays from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. Additional classes include a toddler and preschooler yoga, music, and movement class for children ages two to five from 9 to 9:45 a.m. with a $72 registration fee, and a mom and baby yoga class for infants ages six weeks to pre-crawling from 11 to 11:45 a.m. for a $30 fee for a two-class session. Discounts are available for families with multiple children, and yoga mats are provided for a $1 rental fee.
Advance registration is required for all Yaya Yoga classes.
