Mission college prep beats Fresno Christian
–The Mission College Prep 8-man football team beat Fresno Christian 60-20 Friday night to win the CIF-Central Section Title.
Running back Brian Kowall scored three rushing touchdowns for the Royals. He also had two long runs for the Royals, but the offensive power was spread among several players.
Quarterback Mark Rodriquez through a 17-yard touchdown pass to Carlton Brown in the early going to give the Royals a 13-0 lead.
Mace Sherlock caught a Royals pass for another touchdown. At half-time, the Royals led 39-12.
Jacob Castaneda scored on a 41-yard run in the 3rd quarter to make the score 45-12, Connor Borges came up with several big sacks for the Royals offense, to hold Fresno Christian scoreless in the 3rd quarter.
In the 4th quarter, Brayden Farr scored on 31-yard run to make the score 59-12.
Fresno Christian scored in the closing minutes of the game to make the final score 60-20.
It’s the final game of the season for the undefeated Royals. The CIF-Southern Section voted against a state title for 8-man football, so the Royals end the season with the CIF-CS Title with a perfect record 12-0.
The remarkable thing for the Royals, their first three victories of the season they played 11-man football. They beat Morro Bay, Kern Valley, and Greenfield, before finishing the season playing 8-man.
