Roads also closed for repairs

–Road repairs and other scheduled work associated with recent storm activity will require continued road and campground closures in Morro Bay State Park.

Starting on Tuesday, Feb. 28, Lower State Park Road will be closed from the Inn at Morro Bay to the Marina from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and then after 10 a.m. the east side of the Marina parking lot to South Bay Blvd will be closed. Also on Tuesday, Feb. 28, Park View Road will be closed from the intersection of Black Hill Road to Lower State Park Rd. Starting on Wednesday, March 1, Black Hill Rd will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Thursday, March 2, Lower State Park Road will reopen under traffic control. On Friday, March, 3 all affected roads will be open under traffic control to complete road striping.

Morro Bay Campground remains under a hard closure and is closed to all public use until further notice. Camping reservations at Morro Bay State Park have been suspended through March 8. Campers with reservations for that period will be contacted by Reserve America regarding refunds.

“With the assistance of our partner agencies we have made excellent progress removing fallen and hazardous trees and limbs, including hazardous trees in proximity to State Park buildings and facilities,” said San Luis Obispo Coast District Superintendent Dan Falat. “By coordination with crews and equipment from Cal Fire and the California Conservation Corps we are more quickly and efficiently able to mitigate these public safety hazards and facilitate public access again. We will be evaluating the situation and progress here daily. We apologize for the inconvenience caused to local area residents, businesses, and visitors.”
