Morro Bay man arrested with loaded gun, meth

Officers received report that man was following a female during nighttime hours

    – Officers and a sergeant with the Morro Bay Police Department responded to a call regarding a suspicious male near the downtown and Main Street area of Morro Bay, according to a recent Facebook post by the Morro Bay Police Department. Officers located the male, later identified as Daniel Tiss, after a report that he was following a female during nighttime hours.

During a brief contact and initial investigation, officers determined Tiss was under the influence of a controlled substance. Due to the nature of the call and prior contacts with Tiss, officers conducted a pat-down for weapons.

While conducting the pat-down, officers felt an object resembling a firearm in a shoulder holster. They subsequently located a loaded .38-caliber handgun concealed on Tiss’s person. Additionally, officers found a usable amount of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and other weapons.

Tiss was booked into the local jail on multiple charges.

The Morro Bay Police Department encourages residents to report any suspicious individuals or actions by calling (805) 772-6225.
