Update: Multiple fires reported in riverbed

At approximately 6 p.m. on July 22, Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services was dispatched to the area of 3200 Sulphur Springs Rd. for a vegetation fire. Two fire engines, one squad, two battalion chiefs and the Fire Chief from Paso Robles responded. Under the city’s automatic and mutual aid agreements, three fire engines, two hand crews, a water tender, one prevention officer, and two chief officers from Cal Fire/SLO County, one engine from Camp Roberts Fire, one engine from Templeton Fire and one engine from Atascadero Fire immediately responded. A total of 62 firefighters were required to contain the fire. Additional assistance was provided by Cal Fire Air Attack, Paso Robles Public Works and the Paso Robles Police Department. Fire was contained at 7 p.m. and crews remained on scene until 10 p.m for mop up. Total acreage burned was approximately 2 acres. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

–At approximately 6 p.m. Monday, Paso Robles Emergency services responded to the area of Sulphur Springs Rd in Paso Robles cause of multiple reports of fire in the riverbed near the waste water treatment plant.
Once fire crews arrived on scene they discovered a half-acre fire, at which point fire crews requested a 2nd alarm bringing in additional fire agencies to the area to assist in putting out the blaze. The cause of the fire in under investigation at this point, more information is soon to follow when available.
