NCI Affiliates celebrates 40 years
NCI Affiliates Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing vocational and community living services for adults with developmental disabilities.
Community is invited to an open house Oct. 24
—NCI Affiliates, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing vocational and community living services for adults with developmental disabilities, is celebrating 40 years with an open house on Thursday, Oct. 24. Community members will have an opportunity to tour the NCI facility and participate in a special $20 raffle. The raffle winner will be awarded a 2-night staycation at Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort & Spa, including relaxing spa services, healing art classes, and a $100 dinner certificate for two (valued at $1,500).
“Our 40th anniversary could not have been possible without the support of our business partners and donors in the community,” said Traci Hollinger, Senior Regional Director at NCI Affiliates/Achievement House Inc. “We want to celebrate them as well as all the adults whom we have helped secure useful and productive jobs and live independently within our community.”
One of those individuals, Tristen Saucedo, is currently placed at Cal Trans and Smart & Final through NCI’s Individual Placement Program. He is married with children and has received assistance from NCI’s Community Living Services.
Stephanie Summers is another individual who continues to be positively impacted by NCI’s work. Through the organization’s Individual Placement Program, Stephanie was placed as an employee at Albertson’s, where she has now been working for the past 20 years.
Individual placement programs provide individual job development and training with private employers in the community. Program elements include job preparation, training and development, situational assessment and personal vocational social adjustment. Community living services help individuals who wish to live independently in the community or with a roommate. Services include assistance with finding appropriate housing, money management and budgeting, health and wellness, safety, mobility, assisting with medical needs and more. NCI also offers adult day programs and supported employment programs; including food service, grounds keeping, janitorial, mail service, thrift stores and much more.
The Open House is Thursday, Oct. 24 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the NCI Facility (496 Linne Rd., Paso Robles, CA). There will be live music featuring Bear Market Riot, food, wine and games in the garden. All are welcome to attend NCI’s celebration of 40 years of Service.
