New paramedic squad to improve emergency response times

paramedic squad paso robles–A new paramedic squad will be stationed at Fire Station 1 in Paso Robles and move around the city as needed. This third emergency response vehicle will help fill the void caused by simultaneous calls, when both engines are committed to previous emergencies.

In 2000, the City of Paso Robles and community adopted a response time plan of four minutes or less, 90-percent of the time, to all emergency calls. In 2017, this goal was achieved 45-percent of the time. On September 6, 2018, the Department of Emergency Services proposed a 5-year plan to the Paso Robles City Council that would increase their ability to meet the stated operational goal. A key component of this goal was the implementation of a two-person paramedic squad that would improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.

In 2017, emergency calls were delayed 18-percent of the time, due to 719 overlapping calls. The addition of the squad will allow us to reduce department response times and increase the department’s response capabilities by 50%.

Due to the city council and community’s overwhelming support, Sunday, March 24, at 8 a.m., Squad 8152 will be placed into service and better serve the needs of our community.
