New Sheriff’s Deputy assigned to Shandon

–Earlier this month, a new deputy from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office was assigned to patrol the community of Shandon in northern San Luis Obispo County. This is the first time a deputy has been dedicated to serve that community.

This position was created after Supervisor John Peschong made the request and the Board of Supervisors later approved funding for the new deputy. This addition should significantly improve response times to Shandon, which is a rural community east of Paso Robles of approximately 1,200 people.

The deputy’s main responsibility will be to the town of Shandon, addressing community concerns and utilizing the model of community-oriented policing by meeting and interacting with residents there.

The deputy will be attending monthly community meetings in Shandon and all special town events. The new deputy will also be assisting the nearby communities of Creston and Whitley Gardens as needed.
The deputy will be based out of the Sheriff’s Office North Station in Templeton.
