New traffic signal activated

–Friday morning, Paso Robles city crews activated the new traffic signal at the corner of Sherwood Road and Commerce Way, next to the Masonic Complex. For the past several week, temporary stop signs managed traffic in all three directions. The new traffic signal is another major step in improving Sherwood Road, although work is still being done on the project. New street light poles are going to be installed on Sherwood Road. Landscaping is also going to be improved. Work is currently being done on the irrigation system.

While crews worked on the traffic signal Friday, PG & E crews replaced a faulty power pole near the intersection. The pole deteriorated with age, so they removed it and installed another pole in its place.

The timing on the traffic signals may be adjusted next week. Crews directing traffic while PG & E crews replaced the power pole noticed that the timing was too fast for trucks turning left from Commerce Way to Sherwood Road. City crews will study that issue next week, and make adjustments, if necessary.
