‘No Kings 3’ protest returns to North County this Saturday
– North County will participate in the nationwide No Kings 3 protest Saturday, March 28, with an event in Atascadero expected to draw 2,000 to 3,000 people. U.S. Representative Jimmy Panetta, who represents California’s 19th Congressional District, will join the community gathering.
The Atascadero event is part of a nationwide mobilization expected to exceed 11 million people across all 50 states and one of four coordinated events across San Luis Obispo County. Other county events will take place in downtown San Luis Obispo, South County, and Cambria.
Cindy Lewis of Indivisible North San Luis Obispo County said, “We’re building on the incredible community participation we saw in No Kings 1. March 28 events are decentralized around the county – downtown SLO, North County, South County, and Cambria. Together there’s room for more people to attend, reflecting the growth in this movement.”
The Atascadero event begins at 10 a.m. with a Four Corners Protest and Car Rally at El Camino Real and Morro Road. Participants will march through downtown Atascadero at 11 a.m., followed by a community gathering at 12 noon in Sunken Gardens, 6005 Lewis Avenue. Attendees may bring their own picnic, and the gathering will include singing and music.
Representative Panetta serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means and the House Committee on the Budget and is a Chief Deputy Whip in Congress.
Linda M. Baker of Indivisible North San Luis Obispo County said, “Community events build neighbor-to-neighbor connection and draw more people into the movement. The Atascadero event is family-friendly and fun while making a powerful statement about what we value as a community.”
Baker said North County participants are protesting actions by the federal government, including military strikes, immigration enforcement, and deportations. “This isn’t about one issue. It’s about whether we live under the rule of law or under authoritarian rule,” she said.
The nationwide No Kings movement has grown from 5 million participants in June 2025 to 7 million in October 2025, with over 11 million expected Saturday.

I’m a bit disappointed you published this without any opposing viewpoints. This is an advertisement and should be labeled as such or marked editorial. While they have the right, some of us are experiencing protest fatigue and care little on what they are protesting about or the validity of the message they are attempting to voice. Carry on.
Who are you referring to when you say “they”? So, of course, you are against the constitution and don’t like peaceful protest. We all recognize that this country was not perfect when Trump came aboard. The border was a problem. But we didn’t want him to come in with a hatchet to fix it. We wanted a scalpel. There are innocent people caught up in this sitting in offshore internment camps. Our family fought in WWII so that this would never have a fascist running our country. I’m assuming that you voted in a guy that is a convicted felon. A guy charged with sexual assault. A guy that had a $25,000,000 judgment against him for fraud with Trump University. Bankrupt and stiffed the workers on his Atlantic City hotels. You think he really cares about you? He sold off our country on eBay to Elon for a quarter of a billion dollars and he had all of our social security numbers. His department of war cheif is a Fox talk show host. He surrounds himself with “yes men”. I have no sympathy for you. You should be ashamed if you voted this man in a second time. I’m not even going to go in his “grabbing….” Whatever. And you will come down on the wrong side of history…
What a waste of time. Has anyone told them that we don’t have kings in this country, and we NEVER HAVE. They should do something in their lives that would actually make a difference.Over 145 missing children have been found by ICE, and these people complain about it. How about helping EVEN ONE of the thousands of family members whose child has been murdered, raped and/or trafficked by the pedophiles and criminals that have entered the country illegally. How about doing something that will ease the pain of those parents and loved ones that have lost a family member or friend to a drug overdose….. because billions of dollars of illegal drugs came across the border. How about digging in and finding out why our elected officials are allowed to use insider trading to become multi millionaires? Try and figure out why we are being taxed to death and BILLIONS of dollars are missing from California. But no, these folks are going to gather to protest in their rainbow colors, holding brightly colored signs in order to distract drivers, block traffic, and complain. Perhaps they can try and figure out why California is #1 nationally in Homelessness, Addiction, Gas prices, Gas Tax, # 1 in Budget deficits, Retail Theft, Citizen Exodus, Illegal Immigration, illiteracy, wage stagnation, and Frivolous Lawsuits. Perhaps they can teach a child to read or write so they can grow up and read the Constitution!
