Nomination period for primary election deadline is March 9

–Anyone interested in running for one of the offices on the June 5, 2018 election must complete the necessary paperwork by the Friday, March 9 deadline. This deadline will extend to Wednesday, March 14, if the incumbent for that office does not file by the March 9 deadline. This extension period will not apply for state offices in which the incumbent is not running due to term limits.

The contests on the ballot include races for all statewide offices, U.S. Senator, U.S. Congress 24th District, 35th District Member of the State Assembly, all countywide offices, and 2nd and 4th District Supervisor. The complete list of contests on the ballot as well as the qualifications can be found in the June 5, 2018 candidates manuals located on the County Clerk-Recorder’s website: www.slovote.com. Anyone interested in running for office is encouraged to call the elections office at (805) 781-5228 to make an appointment so their papers can be prepared in advance. The list of those candidates who have already taken out papers is also listed on the website and is updated daily. Anyone with questions may contact the County Clerk-Recorder at (805) 781-5228.
