North County celebrates Independence Day

–North County residents gathered at various local events to celebrate Independence Day yesterday. In Paso Robles, Paso POPS delighted thousands of attendees with live symphony music, food, wine tasting and of course a fireworks finale.

This year was the first year for the event to be held at the Paso Robles Events Center. Attendees were also able to go on fair rides, a new feature this year.

Check out this clip of the fireworks finale posted by Facebook users and local business Rancho Azul y Oro:

Atascadero’s 3rd Annual 4th of July Bluegrass Freedom Festival packed the shady oak glen at Atascadero Lake Park.

About 3,000 people attended the free concert to hear nearly five hours of bluegrass and traditional music.
The event is coordinated by volunteers Nick and Haley Mattson. It’s a fundraiser for Colony Days, which is run by a nonprofit.
