North County fire station reopens after remodel, water upgrades

    – The San Luis Obispo County Fire Department announced the reopening of Meridian Station 52 following a remodel and infrastructure improvements.

The facility was temporarily closed for the installation of new cabinetry and accessibility upgrades required by the Americans with Disabilities Act. The station also received water system improvements in partnership with San Luis Obispo County Public Works. Officials said the upgrades, delayed by parts availability, were necessary to address water quality issues and ensure the system meets potable water standards.

“Fire stations operate around the clock, housing staff 24 hours a day, 365 days a year,” Fire Captain Eric Carreiro said. “Ensuring reliable water quality and modern, accessible facilities is essential to supporting our firefighters as they serve the public.”

With the remodel and system upgrades complete, Station 52 will reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 19.
