–Curtis Lee Twissleman, 40, of Shandon, was taken to a local hospital after a rollover accident that occurred Sunday night, according to California Highway Patrol.

Twissleman was reportedly driving his 2006 Dodge Ram pickup truck southbound on Bitterwater Road, 5 miles south of Highway 46 East, at a speed of 40 mph at around 10:40 p.m. Sunday night. His vehicle drifted off the roadway and onto the right shoulder, continuing of the shoulder and down a steep embankment, according to the report. The truck rolled 1-1/2 times down the embankment before it came to stop on its roof in a dry creek bed.

The collision scene was discovered a few moments later by a passing motorist, and notification was made to the California Highway Patrol. The CHP responded along with Cal Fire personnel and San Luis Ambulance. Twissleman was extricated from the vehicle by use of the “Jaws of life” and carried out of the creek bed to a waiting ambulance and transported to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo where he was admitted with major injuries.

This collision is being investigated by the CHP. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this collision, the report says.
