North County sports update 

Editor’s note: Updated to report a change in venue for Bearcats football game

–The Paso Robles Bearcats have a bye tonight. Next Friday, they were expected to travel to Arroyo Grande for their first conference game of the season. The venue has been changed to War Memorial Stadium at Flamson Middle School because the field at Arroyo Grande won’t be ready for play. The Bearcats are 2-4 for the season. The Eagles are 4-2.

In girls’ golf this week, Paso Robles High School competed in home and away matches with Atascadero High School. Tuesday’s match took place at the Paso Robles Golf Club. The Greyhounds won a close match 270-278. Malia Gaviola shot the low score for the bearcats with a 48. Thursday’s match took place at Chalk Mountain Golf Course. The Bearcats shot a season low team score of 265, but the Greyhounds had a strong showing with a 247. Ceci Martinez shot the low score for the bearcats with a 49 and Kylee Caron shot a personal best 51.

The Atascadero Greyhounds play at home tonight against Royal High School of Simi Valley. The Greyhounds are 2-3 for the season. The Highlanders are 1-5. The kick-off is at 7:30.

The Templeton Eagles host undefeated St. Bernards of Eureka. The Crusaders are 5-0 with a highly touted senior quarterback, Will Omey. The Eagles are 4-1, coming off a big victory over Santa Ynez last Friday, 54-10. Kick-off is at 7 tonight at Templeton High School.
