    – A cast of 25 youth performers from North County will star in a live production of “Wonderland,” based on the novel “Alice in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll. The show, co-produced by Almond Acres Charter Academy and the Templeton Performing Arts Center (PAC), will take place at the Templeton PAC.

The newly adapted performance is directed by Amanda Thayer. The story follows young Alice through her adventures in Wonderland, with a twist. Alice not only travels to another land but also back in time to a disco community. She must gather her courage to save Wonderland from impending doom.

“I am excited to be playing the lead role as Alice in Wonderland, especially since it is a different version of the classic story,” said Madilyn Lee, a Heartland Charter School freshman. “Working with everyone in the cast and the people who have been making this happen has been such an amazing experience. It would mean a lot to us if you would come watch the show.”

Showtimes are scheduled for Friday, Aug. 2 at 6 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 3 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., and Sunday, Aug. 4 at 2 p.m. Each show lasts 75 minutes with a 15-minute intermission. Concessions will be available for purchase. Presale tickets are $15 and can be bought on the event website. Tickets will be available at the door for $20.

“I play the Cheshire Cat in the production of Wonderland,” said Geovani Rendon, a Paso Robles High School senior. “Working as a choreographer and an actor has been a wonderful experience. This production team is working so hard to pull off an amazing performance for family and friends to see.”

Almond Acres Charter Academy is a public, tuition-free K-8 school that employs credentialed teachers and administers state-mandated testing to provide families in northern SLO County an additional choice in public education. Located in Paso Robles, AACA is open to all students from all communities.
