Obituary for Douglas Harvey Cryer Jr., 58

–Douglas H. Cryer Jr., a hardworking and dedicated family man, unexpectedly passed away on Dec 17, 2020, at his home in Paso Robles, California. He was 58 years old.

Doug was born in Paso Robles on June 26, 1962, to Roberta Barrett and Douglas Harvey Cryer Sr. As a fifth-generation Paso Roblan on both sides of his family, Doug graduated from Paso Robles High School in 1980. He was a loving husband to his wife Jeri Cryer of 35 years, a wonderful dad to their eight children, and a fun-loving grandfather to 18 grandchildren.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force for 12 years as a fuel technician before enjoying a longtime career at PG&E, where he was set to retire. His commitment to work was inspiring. His commitment to his family was even more so. Doug was kind, loving, and adventurous. Doug gave his kids his heart and wisdom: Judge people by their actions, not their appearances. Lead by example. Do it right or do it twice. Speak from experience. Live in the moment. Appreciate the little things. Laugh often. Respect women. Work hard, play hard. Show up. Be accountable. And, always keep trying.

Doug and Jeri met while they were both on active duty at the Kunsan Air Base in Korea. They married that same year. They started their family together at Hill Air Force Base in Utah, where they were both stationed. In 1997, the couple moved to Paso Robles to be near his mother’s side of the family. They often visited his father’s side of the family in Colorado, where they recently bought their dream house for retirement. He was such a wonderful father, husband and son. Doug will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Doug is survived by his loving wife Jeri Cryer; their children: Krist’L, Jerell, Danielle, Ta’neal, Mitchell, Gabrielle, Cordel, and Richelle; and their 18 grandchildren. He also leaves behind his mother Roberta Barrett and his father Douglas H. Cryer Sr.; stepparents Michael Barrett and Lesley Cryer; sisters Angela Atwell and Deborah Barrett; and brothers Jonathan Cryer and Joshua Cryer.

Flowers and cards are welcomed to Jeri Cryer at 2176 1300 Road, Delta, CO 81416.
