David “Dave” E. McConnell
Oct. 1, 1947 – Nov. 29, 2025
– David “Dave” E. McConnell of Templeton, California, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025, at his home in Templeton. He was 78 years old.
Born on October 1, 1945, in Toledo, Ohio, Dave grew up in a close-knit family and graduated from Riverdale High School in 1964 (where he maintained contacts and friendships throughout his life). He continued his education at Coalinga (West Hills) Community College before earning his degree in Physical Education from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo—a place and community that became central to his life.
During Dave’s college years, and for some time thereafter, he worked for Bank of America. Also, during that time, he found his true professional home working in the parts departments of Ford dealerships across the Central Coast for more than 50 years. His dedication, strong work ethic, and genuine rapport with customers and coworkers made him a valued and well-loved member of the Paso Robles Ford team, where he worked for many years until retirement.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Geraldine (“Geri”) and Charles (“Chuck”) McConnell, as well as his brothers Tom and Steve.
He is survived by his brother Michael McConnell and Michael’s wife Donna, who divide their time between Seattle, Washington, and Paso Robles, California; and by his sister-in-law Debbie McConnell of Templeton, widow of his older brother Tom. Dave is also lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Pam Hopper (Marty) of Prineville, Oregon; Jeff McConnell (Kim) of Hartselle, Alabama; Amy Mason (Reed) of Clio, California; Laurel Ellis (David) of Plano, Texas; and Hillary McConnell (Frank Guglielmo) of Seattle, Washington.
Dave will be remembered for his enjoyment of family gatherings, his quiet wit, generosity, warm heart, and lifelong loyalty to family, friends, and the community he called home. His presence will be deeply missed and warmly remembered by all who knew him.
In accordance with David’s wishes, no services will be held.
