Obituary of David Richard Walters, 74

David Richard Walters.
– David Richard Walters of Paso Robles died on Saturday, January 3, 2026, just 3 weeks shy of his 75th birthday. David grew up in Atascadero, the son of Dr. Richard Walters and Louise M. Walters. Except for 5 years away obtaining an education, he spent his entire life in either Atascadero or Paso Robles.
David attended Monterey Bay Academy in Watsonville, CA, for 4 years, and never missed a reunion. He was employed for many years by Hagle-DeCou Lumber Company in Atascadero and later by Hayward Lumber in Paso Robles. His greatest joys in retirement were baking artisanal breads, which he delighted in sharing with friends, and the ten years he spent being a Trail Angel along the Pacific Crest Trail, where he was known as “Magic Man”.
He will be sorely missed by his wife, Mary Furman of Paso Robles (his high school sweetheart), and by his sister Charlotte Walters Gilmore of Pisgah Forest, NC.
