Obituary of James ‘Jimmy’ Thomas Thompson, 75
– James “Jimmy” Thomas Thompson, 75, a San Luis Obispo County native, was born at War Memorial Hospital in Paso Robles on July 22, 1948, to James W. and Evadeen Thompson.
He is remembered as a loving brother, uncle, and friend, and also greatly loved his son, Garrett.
Jimmy was a proud veteran, having been drafted into the Vietnam War. He was a retired state employee, who worked at the Paso Robles Boys School. After retiring from the State, he became an auto broker and later retired in the early 2000s.
If you knew Jimmy or “JT”, you knew he was very proud to be from San Luis Obispo County; especially his hometown of Templeton. While Jimmy lived in, and graduated from Templeton, he used to always say, “I’m at Paso Robles High School so much, the coach gave me a P.E. locker!”
Jimmy leaves behind a son, Garrett Thompson of Sacramento, sister, Gaylon Wilson (Michael) of Templeton, brother, Randy Heilmann (Janet) of Escondido, sister, Karen Carnes (Gary) of Rimrock, AZ., sister, Janae Davidson (Barclay) of Escondido, his ex-wife, Mary Thompson of Paso Robles, and several nieces and nephews.
The memorial service for James will be on Friday, Nov. 17, at Kuehl Nicolay Memorial Home in Paso Robles, at 10 a.m. After the memorial service, there will be a graveside service at Templeton Cemetery at 12 p.m. Finally, after the cemetery service, please join us for a lunch gathering and celebrate with the people who will miss Jimmy the most.
