Obituary of JoAnn Madelyn Roemer Jones, 89

JoAnn Madelyn Roemer Jones.
– JoAnn Madelyn Roemer Jones, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 89.
Born in Santa Maria, California, to Frank and Vivian Roemer, JoAnn lived a life full of joy, adventure and connection. She attended Santa Maria High School, began her collegiate career at the University of Southern California, and eventually transferred to California State University, Fresno. She graduated in June 1957.
In her early days, she was a proud rodeo queen for both the Santa Maria Elks rodeo and the Salinas Rodeo – a spirited role that perfectly captured her confidence, charm, and love of the western way of life. Later, she adeptly assumed the role of foreman of her family’s dairy ranch in Morro Bay, California; the dairy was eventually sold, but JoAnn lived at the ranch for the remainder of her life.
She married the love of her life, the larger-than-life John W. Jones, on June 29, 1957. Together, they rodeoed, partied, traveled the world, golfed, fished, scuba dove in far-off waters, and kept each other laughing through it all. Their life together was full of fun, friendship, and unforgettable stories.
JoAnn had a deep love for travel, and she held a special place in her heart for South Africa. Whether she was gathering with friends, raising a glass of red wine, or throwing a lively party, JoAnn was always at the center of the fun – bringing warmth and kindness wherever she went.
Her Catholic faith was an important part of her life, and she found strength and community through her church. She instilled in her family a love of celebrations, the importance of friendship, and a taste for the finer things in life. Those who knew her will remember her as elegant, fun-loving, and generous the kind of person who made you feel special just by being around her.
JoAnn is reunited in Heaven with her parents, Frank and Vivian, and her husband, John. She is survived by her son Johnny (wife Sherrie), her granddaughters, Katie Pascoe (husband Bear), and Shannon Marcum (husband Devin), and her great-grandchildren, Vivian and Zane.
JoAnn’s life will be celebrated on October 11th, 2025, in Morro Bay, California. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to donate to Jack’s Helping Hand.
JoAnn lived fully, laughed loudly, and loved deeply. She will be missed beyond words.
