Obituary of Lewis Kimble, 86

Lewis Kimble.

March 25, 1935 – February 19, 2022

– Lewis “Louie” Kimble, 86 of Paso Robles California, passed away Feb. 19, 2022, surrounded by his family and his sweet little dogs at his side. He was born to Lewis and Diantha “Mae” Kimble on March 25, 1935, in Bakersfield, California. He graduated from Narbonne High School in Harbor City, California, then proudly served in the US Army, where he was on the Rifle Team and worked as a Radar Operator. Lewis married Shirley Yorke before he left for boot camp. They were high school sweethearts, and she was the love of his life. Together they had three children and ran their trucking company in Lomita, California. Their children moved to Paso Robles in the 1980s and they enjoyed traveling in their motorhome with their two dogs to visit them, having great fun taking turns setting up camp at each of their children’s homes, until they made their permanent move to Paso after Lewis retired. Sadly, Shirley passed away in 2002. Lewis missed her dearly, as he would express to us often.

From a young age, Lewis had a love for fast cars. He raced at Santa Ana Raceway, where he held records in his class with both his 37 Chevy and 49 Ford. Lewis also loved bird hunting trips with his father, and son Bob, as well as gold dredging on the Yuba River. Lewis never met a stranger and made friends wherever he went. He loved people, but may have loved their dogs more. For the past five years, Lewis lived in a community that became his extended family, including the many dogs that he was able to pet and love daily, greeting each and every one by saying, “Hello, Beautiful”. Lewis is dearly missed by all of his family and community. Lewis is survived by his children Sheryl (Steve) Forrester, Bob (Taryn) Kimble and Donna (Leo) Compos. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Woods Humane Society.
