    M. Douglas Bobbitt.

    Jan. 25, 1939 – Feb. 13, 2025

    – Rev. Dr. Marion Douglas “Doug” Bobbitt, a beloved pastor, mentor, and artist of worship, passed away peacefully on Feb. 13, 2025, at the age of 86.

Born in Stromsburg, Nebraska, to Millard Douglas Bobbitt and Mary Pauline (Wilcox) Bobbitt, Doug pursued his calling with dedication and grace. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Redlands and his Master of Divinity from the School of Theology at Claremont.

An ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, Rev. Bobbitt served faithfully for many years, including a decade as pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Yuma (1990-2000). His ministry was shaped by deep compassion, wisdom, and an extraordinary sense of artistry. Above all, Doug was a pastor at heart-always present, always listening, and always leading by example. His kindness, creativity, and unwavering faith left an indelible mark on those he served.

Doug is survived by his son, Marc Kemp of Gig Harbor, Washington; his sister, Margaret Fertschneider; and his nieces and nephew in California. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judith Ann Motley Bobbitt.

A memorial service was held on March 15 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Yuma, Arizona.

Rev. Doug Bobbitt lived a life of service, creativity, and deep faith. His legacy endures in the lives he touched, the ministries he shaped, and the beauty he brought into the world.
