Nancy Ross Joynt
1956 – 2025
– Nancy Joynt, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on March 21, 1956, to Dick and Charlsie Ross, Nancy lived a life defined by adventure, compassion, and generosity. In 1983 she married Jeff Joynt and together they raised two daughters, Mary-Betsy and Rebecca, who were the joy of her life.
Nancy made history as the first full-time female park ranger in Utah, paving the way for future generations of women to follow in her footsteps. Her deep appreciation for the outdoors and her sense of purpose in protecting it inspired everyone who had the privilege to work alongside her. Her vast talents led to her success as an event planner for the City of Paso Robles and Assistant Director of the SLO International Film Festival. When Nancy wasn’t working, she enjoyed water aerobics and reading by the coast in Cayucos. There was never a dull moment in her life; she filled it to the brim with camping, theme parks, and international travels.
Nancy gave of herself freely and wholeheartedly to everyone she encountered. She led her church youth group as her children grew up, and volunteered her time to numerous charities and non-profit organizations. Her generosity and thoughtfulness touched countless lives, even in her final weeks, leaving a legacy of kindness and compassion that will live on. Nancy is remembered with love by her husband Jeff, her daughters Mary-Betsy and Rebecca, and their husbands, her two brothers Ron and Andy, and their families, and the thousands of lives she touched throughout her endlessly giving and thoughtful life.
A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at Cal Coast Brewing in Paso Robles on November 15th. Please RSVP to nancyjoynt.com. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to the Adopt-a-Native Elder program that meant so much to her.
