Obituary of Phil McKay, 85

Phil

Phil McKay.

Services will be held at a beach location on Monday, April 25

– Phil Pop-Pop McKay, 85, of Paso Robles, made his last wildly inappropriate and probably sarcastic comment on April 15, 2022, after the single-engine plane he was piloting lost contact and disappeared off the Atlantic coast. Or maybe not, we all know those famous tall tales.

Phil was born on Jan. 15, 1937, to Benedict and Bertha McKay in Cambridge, Ohio. After Phil graduated from High School early, he attended university in California where he met and subsequently fell in love with many men, but finally settled on a bespectacled boy from Modesto, California named Harold Lee. Phil and Harold went on to have one child, Casey McKay Parker.

Phil was a sportsman who cherished fishing, hunting, and spending time at his cabin in the Huntington Lake area. He was a devoted stay-at-home father to his beloved daughter Casey and the bevy of friends she would bring home. Phil and Harold had an open-door policy in their home and embraced everyone who entered like family.

Phil was predeceased by His loving Mother and Father and his faithful partner Harold. He is survived by Casey and James Parker of Colorado Springs and Grandchildren Lola Helene, Sylis James, and the youngest Dash Danger.

Services will be held at a beach location on Monday, April 25. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Planned Parenthood, an organization Phil felt strongly about.
