    Sept. 18, 1940 – May 16, 2026

    – Richard C. Ennes, 85, after a life of adventures, went home to be with the Lord on May 16th, 2026. He was raised in Reedville, Oregon, with his youth smelling of sawdust and freshly cut logs from his parent’s sawmill. Alongside his sisters, Sharon and Connie, he enjoyed all that rural life had to offer, canned peaches, pickup baseball games, and a rich extended family life. While attending Oregon State University, he made two decisions that would define his life. He asked a pretty, redheaded girl (Pat Ellingson) out on a coke date and joined the Air Force as an officer upon graduation. He and Pat served for the next twenty years, and daughters Nikol Ennes Rochez (Germany) and Kjirsten Ennes Petersen (Montana) joined along in their adventures, from the Great Barrier Reef to hot air ballooning in Albuquerque. Richard retired as a lieutenant colonel in logistics, but his adventures weren’t over yet.

Pat and Richard traveled to China, Turkey, and Europe during the time Richard served as director of finance for the Albuquerque and Las Vegas public school systems. He and Pat retired to Paso Robles, California, to be an active part of their grandchildren’s lives (Andrew, Haelee, Anja, and Kaija). Richard volunteered with ECHO, MOAA, Hope Lutheran Church, and AARP Tax Preparation, using his financial talents to help others. His kindness to all is a legacy that will carry forth. Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to El Camino Homeless Organization.
