‘Old Time Music Gathering’ returns to Pozo

David Bragger and Susan Platz will offer a workshop on old-time fiddle duets with bowing. David and Susan are renown instructors and at least one of the duets will be from their critically- acclaimed album, King’s Lament: Old Time Fiddle Duets.

–The Second Annual Pozo Saloon Old Time Music Gathering returns to Pozo on Veteran’s Day weekend for two days of jamming, along with music workshops and a Saturday evening concert. Musicians from across California will gather on the front porch, back porch and all around the grounds of the historic Pozo Saloon to play traditional American music. This family-friendly gathering is free!

Jamming begins at 11:30 on Saturday and Sunday, and all players of old time music are welcome. The Pozo Saloon offers tasty burgers or tri-tip along with cold beer served in a mason jar. If you’re an old-time musician you are welcome to join in on the jams.

In addition to the jamming, David Bragger and Susan Platz will offer a workshop on old-time fiddle duets with bowing. David and Susan are renown instructors and at least one of the duets will be from their critically- acclaimed album, King’s Lament: Old Time Fiddle Duets. Students will learn the tune and a harmony (or “seconding”) part that emphasizes rhythm, chords and bowing. Bowing will be explicitly taught and broken down for the students in a fun and engaging way. There will also be a workshop offered by the ladies of Old Time Machine. Both workshops will request a voluntary donation from all participants.

On Saturday evening there will be a concert featuring The SLO County Stumblers and the Have More Fun Stringband. The show starts at 5:30 p.m. with a suggested donation of $10. Food service stops at 6 p.m. but the bar will remain open during the show.
