One arrested for suspected DUI after wrong-way driver collision on Highway 101

–On Sunday at approximately 1:38 a.m., there was a wrong-way driver traffic collision on Highway 101 near Highway 41 in Atascadero, CHP reports. One person was arrested for suspected DUI at the scene.

Arnold Johnson, 52, of Paso Robles was driving southbound on Highway 101 with his passenger, 27-year-old Tyler Evangelista of Santa Margarita when he reportedly saw a vehicle driving the wrong way on the freeway towards him. He attempted to avoid the on-coming wrong way vehicle but was unable to avoid a collision, according to CHP.collision 101 wrong way driver

The wrong-way driver was identified as 36-year-old Monica Duggan of Atascadero. She was arrested on suspicion of DUI. She reportedly had a bloody nose and was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center.

Johnson and Evangelista were also transported to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center for precautionary reasons.
