One killed, multiple people injured in Cholame ‘Y’ crash 

–Two vehicles were involved in an accident last night which occurred around 10 p.m. at the Cholame ‘Y.’

Reports say one person is dead, two people suffered major injuries, one person suffered moderate injuries and five others had minor injuries. The crash involved a minivan and pickup truck.

According to CHP, 39-year-old Zi Tao Pan of Fresno was driving his Honda Odyssey eastbound on Highway 46. Creston resident Frederico Lopez was driving Creston resident Ramiro Jamie Valadez’s vehicle, a Ford F-150, westbound on Highway 46. Both vehicles were traveling towards the “Y” intersection. Pan entered the left turn lane as to proceed Northbound on Highway 41 towards Fresno. Pan was making a lefthand turn within the intersection and failed to see the F-150 approaching. Pan turned directly into the path of the oncoming pickup truck. Torres was unable to stop in time, resulting in a head-on collision.

As a result of the collision, the front right passenger of the F-150, 48-year-old Creston resident Juan Silva Casares, succumbed to his injuries.

The passenger that was killed was not wearing his seatbelt, according to CHP.
