    Update posted Sept. 23, 6 p.m.:

CHP shares more details on the crash

    – The California Highway Patrol has identified the man killed in a solo vehicle crash Sept. 22 on Nacimiento Lake Drive as 62-year-old David Upham of Bradley.

The crash occurred at about 2:05 p.m. west of Reservoir Road in an unincorporated area of San Luis Obispo County. Upham was driving a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan eastbound at an unknown speed when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle traveled off the north edge of the road and struck a wooden fence, according to the CHP Templeton office.

The Dodge caught fire as a result of the crash. Emergency personnel extricated Upham from the vehicle and attempted life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

Alcohol or drugs are not suspected as factors, CHP said. The incident remains under investigation by the CHP Templeton office.
