Onx Wines launches new micro lot wine label

Paso Robles vineyard focuses on sustainable, small-production wines

    – Onx Wines has announced the launch of its new micro lot brand, Kiler Canyon Vineyard, located in the Willow Creek District of Paso Robles. The brand will offer small production wines with a focus on sustainable and organic farming practices.

The vineyard includes 24 planted acres and is currently in the process of becoming fully organic within the next two years. Known for its steep grades and depleted limestone soils, the vineyard experiences the Templeton Gap wind effect, resulting in vines that grow with difficulty and produce low-yielding, concentrated grapes.

The vineyard focuses on a limited number of varieties known to thrive in the Willow Creek District, including mourvedre, syrah, and roussanne. Plans are in place to plant grenache to complete a full set of Rhone varietals.

“Nearly 8 years in the making, the rehabilitation and reimagining of the Kiler Canyon Vineyard makes its official debut with a brand new line of luxury wines. Made in small quantities and with the highest quality standards in mind, these wines are a prime example of what the Willow Creek District does best!” said winemaker Drew Nenow.

Each syrah and mourvedre clone planted at the vineyard exhibits unique characteristics, unified by chalky tannins and fruit-forward profiles. The vineyard’s first allocation release will include the 2023 roussanne, limited to 30 cases, the 2021 estate syrah, which received a 95-point score from Wine Enthusiast, and the 2021 cuvée, a syrah and mourvedre blend.

The inaugural allocation release is set for July. The public can learn more at kilercanyonvineyard.com. A tasting room in Tin City is scheduled to open in the spring. For allocation inquiries, email allocation@kilercanyonvineyard.com.
