Cunningham will face Oritz-Legg for 35th Assembly District

–Democratic candidate Dawn Oritz-Legg will face Republican Jordan Cunningham for the race to replace termed-out Republican Assemblyman Katcho Achadjian for the 35th Assembly District seat.

Oritz-Legg received 44.9-percent of the votes, Cunningham received 37.3-percent, according to the Secretary of State website. As of 5:59 a.m. today, 100-percent of precincts are partially reporting. Also running for the race was Republican Steve Lebard and Libertarian Dominic Robert Rubini.

Ortiz-Legg, a San Luis Obispo resident, is a consultant for First Solar. Cunningham, a Templeton resident, is a former San Luis Obispo County deputy district attorney and Templeton Unified School District trustee.

“I was honored to see voters respond to a positive message,” said Ortiz-Legg, “They want to see someone who’s not afraid to work across the aisle, create jobs and be a strong voice in Sacramento.”

California State Assembly District 35 encompasses San Luis Obispo County and a portion of Santa Barbara County.

Jordan Cunningham (R), 32,572 votes, 37.3 percent
