Overnight lane restrictions planned Nov. 12-13 on Niblick Bridge

Creston Road and west side street projects continue next week

– Overnight lane restrictions are planned on Niblick Bridge from 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, to 5 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, while utility companies inspect the bridge deck, according to the City of Paso Robles.

PG&E and AT&T will inspect existing utility manholes in the bridge deck. The inspections will help determine the utility work needed for future bridge work expected to start early next year, including deck resurfacing planned for early 2027, the city said. During the work, lanes on the south side of the bridge will be closed and traffic will be shifted to the north side, with one lane open in each direction. The traffic signal at Spring Street and First Street/Niblick Road will operate as a four-way stop with a flashing red signal.

On Creston Road, daytime lane shifts will continue from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. while crews work on waterline trenching and traffic-signal conduit trenching and boring for Phase 2 improvements. At Myrtlewood Drive, the new rectangular rapid flashing beacon is fully operational, and new roadway striping and pavement markers are scheduled for installation at the beginning of December.

On the west side, full-depth reclamation work is mostly complete on 30th, 32nd and 36th streets between Spring and Vine streets. Work next week will include striping, raising utility covers to grade and installing roadside berms in a few areas.

The city said most of the work is funded by voter-approved supplemental sales tax Measures J-20 and I-24, along with state funding and transportation grants. The Creston Road Phase 2 improvements are supported by both measures, and the west side repairs are funded by Measure I-24.

Drivers are asked to slow down, follow posted signs and directions from traffic-control personnel, and allow additional travel time through active construction areas. Schedules are subject to change because of weather, equipment availability or other unforeseen conditions.
