Food_Coop_BannerStaff Report

PASO ROBLES – The Paso Food Co-op (Paso Robles Food Cooperative, Inc. has won a highly competitive seed grant from the Food Co-op Initiative (FCI). The FCI is one of the few national cooperative business support organizations in America, and is the only such organization focused exclusively on the success of food co-ops.

The Paso Food Co-op has been allotted $10,000 in matching funds from the FCI to further develop its member-owned grocery store and community center. The Paso Food Co-op is one of only 10 co-ops chosen from 38 applicants, and is the only from the West Coast and was among the youngest cooperative organizations to have ever been awarded a seed grant.

With great recognition comes great responsibility – the Paso Food Co-op members are now tasked with raising the required $10,000 to access the matching grant funds. Community members can help contribute to the Paso Food Co-op by becoming a Member-Owner, pledging to become a Member-Owner, or donating to the cause.

For those who are excited about having a community marketplace that specializes in local products, whose mission is to support local farmers and artisan food producers, and for those who want to both participate in and strengthen the local community, while also having a space to gather and celebrate the abundance and diversity of the local food experience here on the Central Coast – now is the time to take action.

Support the Paso Food Co-op by making a donation or becoming a Member-Owner at http://pasofoodcooperative.com. A list of upcoming events may also be found on the website.
